The Volvo XC90 has won the supreme honour of Auto Express ‘Car of the Year 2003’ as well as ‘Best 4x4 Off-Roader’ in the magazine’s annual New Car Honours.
The XC90 wasn’t the only Volvo to be shortlisted for this year’s Auto Express awards, with no less than four other Volvos receiving commendations in the following categories: the S80 for Executive Car; the V70 for Estate Car; and the S60 for Compact Executive Car and the S60 D5 for Executive Diesel Car.
Announcing the XC90 as the Car of the Year 2003, Auto Express Editor, David Johns commented: “This car impressed us with its rugged build quality, driving refinement and innovative interior. Big, beautiful and packed with ideas that make motoring far more enjoyable, cars as special as this are very rare. Well done, Volvo.”
